Couture Sale!

A wonderful friend of mine acquired two handmade dresses from the Rare Trends couture line based here in Austin.  The two dresses featured below have only been worn in this shoot and come with the original tags and care instructions.  If interested in either piece, or any styling services from those involved with the shoot, please feel free to drop me a line at thoughtsofjune@hotmail.com.

A big thank you to Sara Rose for the hair and makeup... without her creative genius we couldn't have taken this shoot in the direction I had hoped for.  You are amazing my dear!

Round Up Ready!

This weekend was the fantastic Lone Star Round Up and I thoroughly enjoyed dressing for the festivities.

Calvin Klein dress, gifted belt from Trash and Garnish, and the shoes were a wonderful thrift find.

I love that my sweet pup, Marley, wanted to be part of our mini photo session.  A big thanks to Christine for the pics!

Can't wait to share pics from the amazing photo shoot I was part of yesterday.  I've seen a few and I'm so excited to see the finished product.  The creative juices were flowing at that shoot and I've been so inspired since.  Here's to a wonderful Tuesday!

Cheers!

Picture Perfect Prada

I'm so excited about the Lone Star Roundup this weekend!  When the rods and rockabillies take to the streets in South Austin it is definitely a sight to see.  In an effort to get ready for the festivities I've been looking for inspiration online and I have to say the Prada S/S campaign is a perfect place to start.  I love the feminine details like the pleated skirts, eyelet lace, and soft fabrics all paired with such rough accents like the flame shoes or studded jacket, and even the chain on one of the handbags has a heavy duty feel.  A modern twist on retro style... Simply beautiful!

Ice Queen

My beautiful friend, Malorie, doesn't need much to look fantastic.  This photo just makes me swoon so I had to share!  And I must admit I'm extremely envious that she is in a place that is cold enough for her to wear this amazing coat!

The 'Mullet Dress'... love or hate?

Since these dresses popped up on runways a few years ago "Mullet Dress" is the only term used to describe them.  I have to say that bums me out!  Immediately when I hear the word mullet I think tacky and outdated.  These are anything but!  Why can't you call them cascading??  Asymmetrical??  Any thing other than a tacky, hillbilly reference like the mullet!  Regardless of what one may think, these dresses are absolutely flattering.  They wonderfully highlight your legs; so ladies if you've got gorgeous gams you need a dress/skirt like this.  With spring right around the corner I can't wait to wear the ones I have all the time!

I'm back!

My word what a crazy few months it has been!  Moving multiple times, a car accident, a sick puppy, the works!  However things have calmed down and started to become 'normal' again.  Added a few things to the site today so if you have some time, check it out.  Added info about the styling services I offer as well as some feedback from previous clients.  I'll also be working with the ever talented Christine G who is the owner of Alabama Chic.  She and I have some great photo shoots coming up so hope to have a lot to share in the coming weeks.  I apologize for the delay and for the loyal few who still check my site regularly, THANK YOU!  We'll have lots to chat about soon!

Cheers!

C'est la Vie

To my (tiny) audience I would like to apologize for my delay in posting!  Life has been overwhelming, albeit wonderful, for the past month and time simply slipped away from me.  For those who don't know me personally, I've spent the past year or so planning to move away from my wonderful home in Austin and pursue yet another degree in Fashion Merchandising.  However, as the saying goes, 'Man makes plans, and God laughs'.  Luckily, for no other reason than my sanity, I have recently acquired the ability to happily go with the flow.  So with that said, here I go again wanting to change things up!  I have an overseas trip in the works (Paris je t'aime!), a possible business venture that I am beyond excited about (deets coming soon!),  and lastly a new place to call home here in Austin (I'm on a decorating frenzy!).  Thank you for everyone's continued support and I can't wait to share the next couple months with you as my new inspirations take shape!

Cheers!

One for the dogs...

As I was reading the December issue of Vanity Fair  I came across this photo of Scarlett Johansson.

It caught my eye because of the dog.  I absolutely love when dogs are used in fashion photography.  It's such a throwback to the historical notion that owning a purebred dog symbolized wealth and privilege... which is obviously a huge part of the high fashion society.  And with that, I began endlessly searching the internet for more dog-meets-fashion images that are just as eye catching.

I think the real reason I noticed this today must have something to do with the trend among personal style bloggers to do the same.  They may not be as glamorous as the magazine photo shoots, but their picture perfect pooches are adorable none the less.

This post really has no other rhyme or reason than to share my affinity for our furry friends.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone and have a great holiday weekend!
